Small, Real Churches Are The Wave Of The Future – Zogby
Filed under UncategorizedAug 14
Known more as a pollster than prophet, John Zogby’s new book The Way We’ll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dreamtakes the fruit of his innovative research methods and turns them into prognostications.
Chuck Warnock’s blog describes Zogby’s vision of the future of the American church. Will it be more mega church mania? Should your church just plan to close the doors if you don’t have a media department with fresh dramas for every service? And if Starbucks won’t open one of its franchises in your fellowship hall, should you conclude “Ichabod” has been written over the door?
No, not according to Zogby:
“The church of the future will be a bungalow on Maple Street, not a megastructure in a sea of parking spaces. It’s intimacy of experience people long for, not production values.” — The Way We’ll Be, p. 215.
The competition tomorrow will be the church where people can find “reality” and intimacy – or to quote Zobgy “authenticity in a make believe world”.
That even means the little churches which dot the countryside and stand empty too often today can be the places people are drawn by the Holy Spirit to find not only intimacy with other humans, but communion with the living God!
So let’s “get back in the game”!
Renewal From The Roots is about returning to authentic Christianity in, of all places, the Church! Yes, even your church and mine!
